Self Introduction: Kenta Imamura
Hello. I’m Kenta Imamura, a Japanese intern sent to Philippines since last June. In this entry, I would like to talk about myself a little. I am currently enrolled to a university in Japan but a couple of months ago, I decided to stop for a while.
When I entered my university, I was really interested in global activities, such as studying abroad, being part of student exchange programs or even just travelling. What words usually come to mind when you hear “JAPAN”? Good economy, high level of technology, or a big city like Tokyo?
I was living in Japan during the “Lost 20 years” where the JP economy wasn’t doing well. Even until this day, we are still experiencing this. This made me realize that in order to build my career, I needed to expand my horizons, thus go global. And I also believe that there are a lot of interesting and exciting experiences and people outside of Japan which proved to be true.
Why did I join the internship at RareJob?
I really wanted to have working experience outside Japan before I graduate. I studied English really hard especially focusing on being fluent in speaking the language but it was very difficult. In addition to that, I was also managing a student club in my university which focuses on speaking English, enhancing presentation skills, and for the student to have a global experience.
The reason why I joined RareJob is that I want to contribute in helping encourage more Japanese people to speak English because I know how difficult it is but when mastered, it will totally change one’s world.
Now, as you know, the world is changing rapidly, especially Japan. English takes much part of it. I believe our company’s existence will be more valued. We are currently looking for future staff that will help us achieve our goals!
