Sleepiness hinders productivity. When you’re sleepy, you take more time to process information, you aren’t working in optimal conditions, and your decision-making and concentration is affected. It’s almost impossible to get things done when you’re sleepy; thus, sleepiness has no space when you’re at work.

Your eyes are closing shut. You really want to give in and go to dreamland, but you can’t – your boss might catch you sleeping. What to do?

Here are a few hacks to keep sleepiness at bay:

  1. Take a Nap

Instead of fighting it, go ahead and sleep. A 15 to 20-minute power nap will make you more energized and refreshed, making you more productive.

  1. Get Moving

Sitting for long hours will not just make you sleepy, it will also prove to be unhealthy in the long run. So, stand up and get moving. Walk around or do some stretching once in a while.  For the ultimate energy boost, you can do jumping jacks, push-ups, crunches, or even squats. Who says you can’t exercise when you’re in the office?

  1. Use Peppermint Toothpaste

Brushing your teeth with peppermint toothpaste will not only refresh your mouth but will also help you stay alert. Research suggests that the scent of peppermint stimulates the brain, making you feel more awake.

  1. Call Someone

Make a call to someone who makes you happy. It will refresh your mind and make you inspired to do tasks.

  1. Coffee Break

Coffee is a natural stimulant because of caffeine. Drinking a cup of coffee will awaken your senses and get you back on track.

Of course, nothing beats having a good night’s sleep so make it a habit to sleep and get up at the same time every single day. However, if ever you find yourself feeling drowsy while at work, you know what to do.
