Tutor Khrisna, our featured RareJob tutor for the month of August, shares one of her works, “Glimpse of the Unseen.” It is a painting of a Japanese woman in a beautiful landscape. To her, the mystery of a woman holds immeasurable power and beauty. She stays true to this description, and it shows in her life.
Dive deeper and get to know the woman behind the colors.
How would you describe yourself?
I describe myself as a piece of abstract art: unique and mysterious. Like abstract art, people have different views of me. Some might think I’m an abandoned masterpiece because they believe working from home is easy, while others look at me and say that I’m a very stunning piece of art.
Growing up in a family of artists inspired me to paint. It has been one of my favorite hobbies, and it has become a big part of my life.
Also, I’ve always been a career woman, and I’ve worked different jobs—a researcher, writer, consultant, and editor. When I realized that I wanted to do something more colorful in my life and continue my passion for art, I decided to become a full-time RareJob tutor.
How did you learn about RareJob?
In 2009, when I was a 3rd year college student, I needed to look for a part-time job to finance my studies, and that’s when I saw a RareJob ad. At first, I was hesitant to apply because all I knew was RareJob provides online English lessons to Japanese students. Then, I felt a kind of rush. Japan has been one of my dream countries to visit, so I thought working at RareJob would be a great opportunity to learn more about it and talk with Japanese students. I’ve been an active tutor since, and the excitement is still there.
What do you love about RareJob?
What I love the most about RareJob is that it gives opportunities and chances to everyone. You can also teach at the comfort of your home. If you want to take a break, you can do so anytime because your schedule is very flexible. You have a life outside of work. In my case, I usually paint after work.
What is a life lesson that you wish to share with everyone?
My advice is to do what you love and love what you do. When you’re happy with what you do, you won’t get tired of it, you won’t have to work a day in your life. I think that’s the reason why I’ve been with RareJob for 12 years now. It makes me happy to teach and learn from my students.
Tutor Khrisna, truly the empowered woman behind the colors.
