Hey, hey, hey! Pinoys, are you geared up and ready to cheer on our athletes for this year’s Olympics? The Philippines is gearing up for the Paris 2024 Olympics, which will start on the 26th of July and end on the 11th of August, and the excitement is off the charts! We’ve got some incredible athletes ready to show the world what they’re made of, and it will be a wild ride.
Our Athletes
The Philippines has a long history of participating in the Olympic Games, with its athletes competing in various sports and achieving notable successes. Here’s an overview of the Philippines’ involvement in the Olympics.
Remember Hidilyn Diaz? Of course, you do! She lifted her way into our hearts with that historic gold medal in Tokyo 2020. She was ready to defend her title in Paris but informed the nation that she did not qualify last April. We felt devastated upon hearing this news, but she stated she would help hone future Olympiads.
Then there’s our boxing crew. Nesthy Petecio, Carlo Paalam, and Eumir Marcial are all set to throw serious punches. These champs brought home the medals last time, and they’re itching to turn those silvers and bronzes into gold.
Next, we have EJ Obiena, our pole vault prodigy. This guy makes soaring through the air look effortless. EJ’s been breaking records left and right, aiming for the stars (or at least the highest bar) in Paris. Watching him fly is like watching a superhero in action.
Carlos Yulo, our gymnastics wizard, will flip, twist, and tumble his way to glory. He’s got more tricks up his sleeve than a magician, and his routines are pure magic. Carlos is ready to dazzle the world with his incredible skills and charisma.
On the greens, Bianca Pagdanganan and Dottie Ardina are ready to swing their way to victory. Both will show that Filipinos can also dominate the golf course.
Aside from our firm and outstanding athletes, we have Aleah Finnegan, who will make her Olympic debut. Finnegan is qualified for gymnastics and has a strong performance record from previous competitions.
Next up, Vanessa Sarno, Elreen Ando, and John Ceniza for weightlifting! These weightlifters secured their spots after impressive performances in international qualifiers. Joanie Delgaco is making history as the first Filipina rower to qualify for the Olympics. Levi Jung-Ruivivar and Emma Malabuyo, are two gymnasts who are part of the strong contingent representing the Philippines in Paris.
Last but not least, we have multiple-time gold medalist Kiyomi Watanabe for Judo. After securing her spot through continental qualification, she will compete again in the Paris 2024 Olympics.
Wrapping Up
The Philippines’ participation in the Olympics has grown over the decades, with recent successes bringing renewed focus and support for various sports. We have a lot more athletes fighting to grab medals in the Olympics! So, get your flags, warm up your vocal cords, show your support online or offline, and cheer for them. The Filipino athletes are set to make history in Paris 2024, and we’re all here for it. Mabuhay, Team Philippines! Let’s go for gold! 🇵🇭🏅🎉
